Śrī Nityānanda Trayodaśī is a particularly auspicious day in the Vaiṣṇava calendar, marking the glorious appearance day of Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu, the dearest companion of Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu. Nityānanda is revered for his unparalleled compassion, boundless mercy, and unconditional love for all souls.
Nityānanda Trayodaśī, celebrating the appearance of Lord Nityānanda, occurs on the Trayodaśī tithi (13th day) of the Śukla Pakśa (waxing moon) in the Māgha month (January/February).
Nityananda Trayodaśī’ falls on January 31st in 2026. Since the devotees are out distributing books on that day, the festival in honor of Nityananda will be moved to Sunday, February 1st.
The Devotees from the IHKM Temple in Mainhausen will celebrate this festival on SUNDAY, February First – (1st). After the abhiṣeka ceremony for the Gaura Nitāi deities, a lively kīrtan and a sumptuous prasādam feast are offered in honor of Nityānanda and for the pleasure of the Lord.

We celebrate the appearance day of Nityānanda Prabhu with kīrtan, abhiṣeka, Ārati, and prasādam. In addition to ecstatic mantra chanting (kīrtan) and a delicious feast (prasādam), there will be a reading about the glorious deeds of Śrī Nityananda.

Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu, also known as Nityānanda-Rāma, is revered as the savior of the fallen and the propagator of Kṛṣṇa-prema (divine love). He traveled around the world with Lord Chaitanya to support the Lord in His saṅkīrtan movement, the chanting of the holy names of God. Through Nityananda’s boundless compassion and causeless mercy for the fallen souls in Kali-yuga, countless souls were liberated through compassion, devotion, and kīrtan.
sei kṛṣṇa-navadvīpe śrī-caitanya-candra
sei balarāma-saṅge śrī-nityānanda
Translation – The original Lord, Lord Kṛṣṇa, appeared in Navadvīpa as Lord Caitanya, and Balarāma appeared with him as Lord Nityānanda. (Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Ādi-līlā 5.6)
In Caitanya-caritāmṛta, we read about Nityānanda’s ecstatic saṅkīrtan pastimes throughout Bengal and Orissa, where he traveled partly alone as an avadhūta preacher and partly as a companion of Caitanya Mahāprabhu and his Saṅkīrtan party. Together, Lord Caitanya and Nityānanda Prabhu enjoyed many ecstatic prasādam pastimes, and Nityānanda was known for enthusiastically consuming immense quantities of Kṛṣṇa prasādam.
In honor of the transcendental personality Śrī Nityānanda, we offer a varied feast that attempts to reflect Nityānanda’s fiery preaching mood, his sometimes unexpected and astonishing activities, and his enthusiasm for harinām saṅkīrtana.
Lord Nityānanda is even more merciful than the benevolent Lord Gaurahari Himself, and His two lotus feet, which are as cool as millions of moons (nitāi-pada-kamala, koṭi-candra-suśītala), are the only refuge for the aspiring devotees of Lord Gaurahari in this suffering Kali-yuga.
In His mercy, Lord Nityānanda filled the entire universe with Kṛṣṇa Prema and distributed benevolent love without regard for the devotees’ merits. Jāhnavā-pati Nityānanda-rāma is none other than Lord Balarām himself (balarāma hoilo nitāi). It is he who shows devotees the path to spiritual development. Without his mercy, one cannot even hope to attain the lotus feet of Lord Gauranga-deva.
नित्यानन्द नमस्तुभ्यं प्रेमानन्दप्रदायिने ।
कलौ कल्मषनाशाय जाह्नवापतये नमः ॥
nityānanda namas tubhyaṁ
premānanda-pradāyine |
kalau kalmaṣa-nāśāya
jāhnavā-pataye namaḥ ||
I offer repeated obeisances unto Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu, who bestows the bliss of divine love (prema), Destroyer of sin, who eliminates the contamination of the age of Kali, and who is the husband of Jāhnavā-devī.
The Nityānanda, very name, suggests… Nitya means eternal. Ānanda means pleasure. Material pleasure is not eternal. That is the distinction. Therefore those who are intelligent, they are not interested with this flickering pleasure of material world. Every one of us, as living entity, we are searching after pleasure. But the pleasure which we are seeking, that is flickering, temporary. That is not pleasure. Real pleasure is nityānanda, eternal pleasure. So one who has not been able to contact Nityānanda, than one should think of himself, that he has simply spoiled his valuable life.
nitāi-pada-kamala, koṭi-candra-suśītala
je chāyāy jagata jurāy
heno nitāi bine bhāi, rādhā-kṛṣṇa pāite nāi
dṛḍha kori’ dharo nitāir pāy
The lotus feet of Śrī Nityānanda are as cool as millions of moons. The whole universe gets peace by the shade of those lotus feet. Without the mercy of Śrī Nityānanda, nobody can get Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, the aim of human life. Therefore, catch hold of the two lotus feet of Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu very tightly.
Śrīla Prabhupada’s Purport to Nitāi-Pada-Kamala –

In order to get relief from the pangs of blazing fire of this material existence, one should take shelter of the lotus feet of Lord Nityānanda, because it is as cooling a the moon rays combined together of millions of moons. That means one will immediately find peaceful atmosphere. So if you are anxious to go back to home, back to Godhead, and become associate with Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, than the best policy is to take shelter of Nityānanda.
Nityānanda Prabhu in His role as the original spiritual master, was instrumental in spreading the yuga-dharma of Saṅkīrtana all over the Gauḍa-deśa (Bengal, Orrisa). His mercy knew no bounds, and people fortunate to come in contact with Him were inundated with the love of Godhead. It was by His mercy that Raghunātha dāsa, one of the six Goswamis started the famous Daṇḍa Mahotsava festival of Panihatti, a tradition that continues to this day, and was thus able to serve Caitanya Mahāprabhu. He extended His mercy to even fallen souls like Jagāi and Mādhāi, delivering them from the sinful lives and protecting them from the wrath of even Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Indeed His mercy knew no bounds, and fortunate were the people who tasted the nectar of His instructions.
